Year 2 Week 21
Date: 14th Feb 2020 @ 8:46am
This week we have been learning about Indian food. We have researched some of the different foods commonly eaten in India. We particularly enjoyed preparing and eating our own vegetarian curry. We learnt that turmeric gives curry its distinctive colour and its spicy flavour is made using a combination of cumin, corriander, ginger, chilli and garlic. It was delicious!
After the half term holiday we will start to learn about instructions. We will have fun following instructions to make a simple item, we will identify the key features of written instructions and have a go at writing our own instructions. We will also continue our science work learning about plants by looking at the life cycle of a dandelion.
For homework this week please help your child with the cutting and sticking sheet, "How Do Medicines Get Into Our Bodies?" Please discuss the different medications and the times they may have needed them. It would also be helpful to discuss the safe storage of these medicines and who should administer them.
Please help your child to practise the multiplication facts for the 5x table ready for a written test on 6th March. You will find a £1 book voucher in your child's bookbag. Also, please look out for an email which will explain our plan for celebrating World Book Day on 5th March.
We hope you have a restful half term break.
