Year 1 Week 22
Date: 28th Feb 2020 @ 8:26am
Welcome to our Year One blog!
This week we have started our unit of work on Toys. On Tuesday the children were excited to bring in one of their favourite toys to write about and draw. We will be setting up toy museums in the classrooms next week and would like the children to bring in an old toy, perhaps belonging to their parents, grandparents, aunts or uncles, together with a label to tell us a little about its history. In Phonics this week we have started to look at the rather tricky phoneme "or" with its spelling patterns of "or", "ore", "oor", "aw" and "au". It would be helpful if you could look for these phonemes in reading books. In Maths we have been continuing to look at place value for numbers up to 50. In Art we have been learning how to make press prints and in Science we have started to look at how materials can be changed in shape.
Our spelling homework is based on "have" and "were" this week.
Don't forget that next Thursday (5th March) is World Book Day. The children are asked to come to school wearing an accessory to make them look a little different from everyone else. We will be enjoyng the story "Odd Dog Out" which is about celebrating diversity.
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
