Year 1 Week 21

Date: 14th Feb 2020 @ 1:43pm

Welcome to our Year One blog.

It was lovely to see so many of you at "Thumbs Up Time" on Thursday morning and we hope you enjoyed the opportunity to have a look at your child's work.  We also hope you enjoyed our Year One Assembly - the children have worked very hard at learning their words and the songs.

In our History work this week we are just finishing looking at Victorian homes and the life of Victorian children before moving on to a focus on toys after the holiday.  As you know, we will be setting up toy museums in the classrooms and we are also asking that your child brings in one of their favourite toys on Tuesday 25th February.  They will be drawing and writing about it and we should be able to return it very quickly.  We will endeavour to keep them all safe but it would be best not to send in your child's very favourite toy.  In Maths this week we have continued to look at numbers up to 50 in terms of tens and ones and using the words "greater than", "less than" and "equal to".  In Science the children have enjoyed investigating different objects and materials with magnets and we have continued to look for early signs of Spring.

Our homework for the holiday is a couple of maths sheets and to continue with regular reading.  We have also put a voucher for a book in your child's book bag as part of World Book Day and you will have received an email giving you more details.

We hope you enjoy the half term break.

With best wishes

The Year One Team
