Year 1 Week 15

Date: 19th Dec 2019 @ 8:45am

Welcome to our Year One blog.

We've had a lovely week of Christmas activities and had a wonderful party on Tuesday.  Thank you very much for providing all the party food - the children really enjoyed themselves with lots of games and dancing.

We have sent home a couple of reading books for the Christmas holiday - but do remember that the children will enjoy reading other books at home and from the library.  We have also sent home a maths sheet about counting in twos - if you are looking for some more maths activities, please try practising the quick recall of number bonds (ie pairs of numbers totalling a particular number) for 5, 10 and even 20 if appropriate and use these to quickly answer from memory additions and subtractions (eg 4 + ? = 5, 10 - 7 = ?, 10 - ? = 2, 4 + ? = 20).  Please also go over all the phonics information sheets we have sent home this term so that the children can quickly and confidently spot those phonemes within words and sound them out accurately.  They need to start looking at the end of words to spot the split digraphs instead of just sound-talking from the first phoneme!

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
