It was good to see so many of you at parents' consultations this week.
As usual, we have had a busy week in Year One. Our new phoneme involves the spelling patterns "igh", "ie", "i-e" and "y" and we will be looking at them this week and next so please have a go at finding them in reading books at home. In our maths lessons we are looking at ordering numbers, using the terms "tens" and "ones", and number bonds that make 10. Our focus in Science this half term is animals and we have started by looking at parts of the human body and how they are linked to our senses. Some of us have now made our paper puppets that are linked to our ongoing story at story times in Year One this year - "The Faraway Tree" trilogy - and this will continue into next week.
Our homework this week is a spelling sheet focusing on "my" and "was". Many children confuse the spellings "my" and "me" so it is worth discussing these with your child as you do the homework to try and distinguish between them.
With best wishes from
The Year One Team
