Week 8

Date: 1st Nov 2018 @ 4:22pm

This week in Year Two we have been asking, "Why do we remember Guy Fawkes?" We have learnt about the Gunpowder Plot and how to keep ourselves safe on Bonfire night. We have been learning to recite the poem "Remember, Remember the 5th of November". We hope you get to enjoy a firework display over the weekend as we will be using fireworks as an inspiration for dance and art next week!

This week we were lucky enough to be invited to the Junior school to visit our Year 5 partner class. We had fun chatting to our new friends and colouring our Mexican masks.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Healthy Hursthead Day on Thursday. We all took part in hip hop, yoga and running around the track on the playground. We made a happiness journal and relaxed over some mindfulness colouring. Some of us were even brave enough to try some new food when we made and tasted our healthy wraps!

Homework this week will support the children's mathematical understanding of place value. The tens and ones pictures will help them to add and subtract ten from two-digit numbers.

Have a wonderful and safe weekend.

Best wishes, The Year 2 Team
