This week in maths we have been continuing to look at number bonds to 5 and how we can use them to help us answer addition and subtraction calculations including word problems. We are practising repeating them from memory without using our fingers or objects. We've also been learning the names of 2D and 3D shapes and how to describe some of their properties.
We've been finishing our mini geography topic from last half term - we are trying to remember that the four countries that make up the United Kingdom are England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. We are learning to recognise Great Britain on maps of the world. We have also started to look at how to make both a simple lever with a pivot join and also a slider in preparation for making some paper puppets next week.
We had a great Healthy Hursthead Day on Thursday and enjoyed activities like running round the track, hip hop, yoga and making a healthy trail mix snack.
Our homework this week is to complete some research about the painter Van Gogh in preparation for some art work that we will be doing over the next few weeks.
We have talked about how to keep safe on Bonfire Night so, if you are celebrating with fireworks, we hope you have a lovely safe time.
