Good morning and welcome to the Reception Week 24 blog.
What a blustery week it's been! The children have been enjoying exploring the wind in the playground with some making kites to fly.
We've also been talking about where the children have been in the world. Thanks to those who have sent in their sheets on this, it has helped us to make the map of the world more relevant to your child.
Next Thursday will be our Spring Term Healthy Hursthead Day. We will spend the day focusing on ways the children keep healthy and safe, alongside enjoying sessions with our Yoga and Hip Hop teachers. The children will also be trying to beat their previous score for the number of times they can run around our running track (20 laps is approximately one mile). Don't forget to send your child into school in their sports kit (please come in and get their PE bags on the Wednesday if you need them).
As we come to the end of our Phase 3 phonemes, we will be assessing and sending home any that your child needs to practise. Please come and see your class teacher should you have any questions regarding this.
We will also be revisiting 3D shapes (cone, cylinder, sphere, pyramid, cube and cuboid). We are now looking at describing the shapes i.e. a cone has 1 circular face, 1 curved face and a point. If you get the chance, why not look around the house over the weekend and see if you can find any of these shapes.
Whatever you get up to this weekend, please stay safe and have fun.
Best wishes from the Reception Team
