This week we have been writing instructions explaining step by step how to make a healthy sandwich. We have organised our instructions carefully by using numbers and time connectives. We have written command sentences using bossy verbs so that it is clear to the reader what they have to do. We have written lists of the things needed to make the sandwich, separating the items in the list with commas and we have included helpful tips to warn people of the things that could go wrong. We have also enjoyed finding out about the life of Chris Bonington, a modern day British mountaineer. We have compared his 1985 Everest expedition to that of Edmund Hillary's in 1953. We recorded facts about his life using a timeline.
Next week we will start preparing a non-chronological report using all our knowledge of India. We will create a simple tourist information sheet about why people should visit India including what they will see and eat if they visit. We will also continue to practise for our music festival "The Litter Muncher" which we will perform with three other schools in a few weeks time. Looking ahead, we also look forward to performing it for you at the end of the year. On Thursday we will be having the second of our Healthy Hursthead Days. Please send your child to school in comfortable sports clothes ready for a fun-packed day of activity, mindfullness and healthy eating.
Homework this week is Maths reasoning activities. Please also continue to practise the 5x table division facts to prepare your child for the written test next week.
