Morning and welcome to the week 23 blog.
We hope you enjoyed tasting the vegan flapjacks in Class 7 and 9 this week. Mrs Rossell is doing a great job passing on her baking knowledge to the children. Class 8 will be baking on Monday and are looking forward to it immensely.
This week we have also been discussing occupations (jobs that you get paid to do!). On Monday Mrs Huxley from the school office came in and gave a talk about her work. The children asked her lots of questions and it was a lovely way to introduce the topic.
For World Book Day we have read the book "The day the crayons quit" and this morning all staff have turned up in their "crayon colour" outfits. We are looking forward to seeing the children in a rainbow of colours filling the hall for our morning assembly!
Next Friday is pyjama day for Comic Relief. Children can come in their pyjamas with a donation. It always proves to be a fun day for all and quite a bit different from our usual school uniform!
We will be talking further next week about people who help us in the wider community such as nurses, doctors, firefighters, coastguard etc. We are also talking about the emergency services and ringing 999! As part of this we will be seeing if the children know their home address. Most children will know this already but if not, please help your child to learn this over the weekend.
The phonemes for next week are "ear" as in hear and "air" as in hair. These are the final two phase 3 phonemes so a sheet detailing them all will be sent home at the end of next week for you to practise at home.
The children will also be working on looking at maps next week, so if you're out and about at the weekend why not look at the map (physical/satnav/strava etc) of where you are going or have been.
As always, if you have any queries or concerns please have a chat to your class teacher.
Have a happy weekend
The Reception Team
