Welcome to our Year One blog.
It was lovely to see so many of you at "Thumbs Up Time" on Thursday morning and we hope you enjoyed the opportunity to have a look at your child's work.
In our History work this week we are just finishing looking at Victorian homes and the life of Victorian children before moving on to a toys focus after the holiday. As you know, we will be setting up toy museums in the classrooms and we are also asking that your child brings in one of their favourite toys on Tuesday 26th February. They will be drawing and writing about it and we should be able to return it very quickly. We will endeavour to keep them all safe but it would be best not to send in your child's very favourite toy. In Maths this week we have continued to use coins to make different amounts up to 20p and have looked at applying our counting in 2s, 5s and 10s to more practical problems like counting amounts of money and pairs of socks. In Science the children have enjoyed investigating different objects and materials with magnets and we have continued to look for early signs of Spring.
Our homework for the holiday is a couple of maths sheets and to continue with regular reading.
We hope you enjoy the half term break.
With best wishes
The Year One Team
