Morning all and welcome to the Week 20 blog.
What a wet and windy week it has been! Our outdoor activities have been a bit curtailed because of the weather and our Big School Bird Watch will now take place next week. Everyone will be spending some time outside in the school grounds spotting and recording any birds they may see. The information will then be sent off to form part of the RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch 2019. If you want to take part at home over the weekend, information of what to do and how to send in your results is on the RSPB website.
Thank you to all who came to the postponed Learning Review Meetings on Wednesday. If you were unable to attend, please make sure you speak to the class teacher to make another time. This week we have Thumbs Up Thursday from 8.40 to 8.55. As before, it is an opportunity for you to come and share your child's work with them. It can get very busy in the classrooms so one adult per family only if possible. Thanks.
Also on Thursday next week, your child's Next Steps will be stuck in their reading record books (please ensure these are in bags). The Next Steps sheet details areas that your child is working on in school and that you can help your child practise at home. In addition, by the end of the week, you will be given reading books for the holiday week.
Class 7 are looking forward to their postponed trip to Sea Life Manchester which is taking place on Monday. Class 7 children will be in uniform and should have a named drink with them. Lunch will be eaten back at school. Remember to bring all the things you would normally bring to school on the day e.g. school bag, books, snack, water bottle. the Class 7 team are looking forward to a fun and educational morning!
The phonemes for next week are "er" as in her and "ur" as in turn. We always tell the children that it is too tricky to guess which of the spellings of that particular phoneme is needed so if you do not know that it's an "ur" write "er".
The large scale water creatures are now finished and you will be able to see them on Thursday!
Here's hoping the weather improves and we can all enjoy the outdoors this weekend!
Best wishes from the Reception Team
