Week 20 2020
Date: 7th Feb 2020 @ 8:13am
Morning all and welcome to the Week 20 blog.
What an interesting weather week it has been! Amidst the rain, frost and sun we have taken part in the Big School Bird Watch. Everyone spent some time outside in the school grounds spotting and recording any birds they saw including a, currently resident, pied wagtail! The information has been sent off to form part of the RSPB Big School Bird Watch 2020.
Share a story is taking place today (Friday 7th at 2.55pm) and next week we have Thumbs Up on Thursday 13th from 8.40 to 8.55. As before, it is an opportunity for you to come and share your child's work with them. It can get very busy in the classrooms so one adult per family only if possible please.
Also on Thursday next week, your child's Next Steps will be in their reading record books (please ensure these are in bags). The Next Steps sheet details areas that your child is working on in school and that you can help your child practise at home. In addition, by the end of next week, you will be given reading books for the holiday week.
The phonemes for next week are "er" as in her and "ur" as in turn. We always tell the children that it is tricky to guess which of the two variations are needed, so if in doubt write "er".
We have been looking at symmetry and repeating patterns in maths, try asking your child to spot any they can find (or make) over the weekend.
Best wishes from the Reception Team
