Week 18

Date: 25th Jan 2019 @ 9:19am

Welcome to our Year One blog.

This week in Year One we have continued to look at multiplication in Maths in terms of "lots of" and have started working with arrays as a means of explaining multiplication.  The homework this week is a sheet about arrays with a note to you explaining what this means.  We have also started looking at simple division in terms of sharing and grouping objects.  In Art we have finished our digital and pastel art in the style of David Hockney - the pictures look fantastic and the children are very pleased with the results.  We are continuing our science work by naming the different materials used to make things around us and learning more about how different materials are made.

As you are aware, unfortunately the pavements were too slippery on Wednesday to allow us to walk to All Saints Church but we are all looking forward to our trip to Macclesfield Heritage Museum next week. We have been learning more about how poor and rich Victorian children lived - the children were horrified to learn about the dangers that children faced in Victorian times working in the cotton and silk mills in Macclesfield.

With best wishes
