This week we have enjoyed reading "No Dinner" by Jessica Souhami. It is a traditional Indian tale about how a clever old woman avoids being dinner for the wild animals of the forest by hiding inside a pumpkin shell. We have been getting to know the characters in the story by meeting them in some fun drama activities. We will then write a description of each character thinking about both their appearance and personality.
Next week we will look closely at the physical and human geographical features of the Kumaon region of India and compare it to our local area. Physical features are things that occur naturally, such as mountains and streams. Human features are things that people have put in the landscape such as roads and buildings. What similarities and differences can we see between the Kumaon region and Cheadle Hulme?
Please look out for the Mosque trip letter in your child's reading bag. Each class will need four parent helpers to make the trip possible. The permission slip needs to be returned to school by Monday 21st January.
Homework this week is a set of arithmetic questions. Please refer to the strategy sheet handed out at the beginning of the year if your child needs support with any of the questions. We will also be having a written 2x table test on the 25th January, so please keep practising with your child for that.
With best wishes and thanks for your ongoing support
