Week 16

Date: 11th Jan 2019 @ 9:21am

A Happy New Year to you all!

The children have settled down quickly after the Christmas break and are enjoying the start of our new topic "Changes".  They have been introduced to some pictures and photos showing details of children's lives in Victorian times in different social classes and have looked at some intriguing Victorian artefacts like a ceramic hot water bottle, chamber pot, slate and backboard (to make sure Victorian children stood up straight!).  In our maths lessons this week we have been learning more about the twos pattern and we have used the words "odd" and "even".  We have been starting to learn about David Hockney in Art and have been learning how he uses different media like iPads to make his pictures.

We are hoping to walk to All Saints Church in Cheadle Hulme again on the 23rd January for a good look around and to learn more about what happens inside a Christian church.  Thank you very much if you have volunteered to accompany us - we are still needing more volunteers to enable the trip to go ahead so please get in touch with your class teacher if you are able to help.

Homework this week is a spelling and sentence writing sheet looking at the words "her" and "out"; the latter is one of the words the children need to learn to spell by heart but is often misspelt as "owt" - please help your child to learn to spell this correctly.

With thanks and best wishes
