Over the next few weeks we will be continuing our work on World War One by finding out about Walter Tull. He was a star player for Tottenham Hotspur and the first black outfield professional footballer. He went on to become the first black officer in the British Army. He rose above prejudice on the pitch and his leadership and courage in the trenches won him a recommendation for the Military Cross.
Next week is performance week! We have had so much fun rehearsing for our Christmas play, "The Stars Come Out for Christmas" and are really looking forward to sharing it with you. This year the School Council have chosen The Stockport Foster Carers Association as our Christmas charity, so as well as donating to them on Christmas Jumper day (21st) we will be taking a collection at the end of each of our performances.
Our home work this week will support reasoning work in maths, using number lines and comparing numbers. We are also asking the children to learn by heart doubles and halves up to 12. This will help prepare the children for multiplication work in the new year. Please note that there will be no new spellings in the yellow book this week and until after the Christmas holiday. Instead, please practise the words on the sheet given to you at parents evening, ready for a test during the final week of term.
