Welcome to the Week 11 blog.
With the Christmas fair tonight it's certainly beginning to feel festive around school and a quick reminder, as the weather gets colder, we continue to work and play outside regardless of the temperature so suitable clothing is needed (warmer coats, gloves, hats etc). As always, all items should be labelled as we can't guarantee to reunite lost items unless they are.
Thank you to all of you who have returned your ticket requests for the Reception Christmas Nativity play. In bags tonight will be a letter detailing which part your child will play and which bits of their costume you will need to supply. If you don't have the required item, please do not go out and buy new until you've checked with your class reps and class teacher to see if they can be borrowed. We start rehearsals on Monday morning so if your child has been given a "speaking" part please can you help them to learn the words (also in bags) and practise them in a loud voice by Monday. The Christmas play is always a very special time and the Reception team are looking forward to sharing it with you.
Next week we are starting with our new book "Stick Man". Lots of children are familiar with the story and the fabulous animated film produced by the BBC. Well worth watching over the weekend (on youtube or such).
We will also be looking at identifying basic 3D shapes (cone, cylinder, sphere, cube, cuboid, pyramid). A good way of practising recognising these is to "shape spot" as you go round the supermarket or as you unpack your groceries! Some helpful manufacturers are even producing pyramid packaging at this time of year!
We look forward to seeing you at the school fair tonight. If you have a slot to see Father Christmas please make sure you arrive at the waiting room in plenty of time.
Whatever you get up to, have fun and keep warm!
